Please nominate colleagues for ICCSSA awards and/or recognize upcoming retirements. Any Iowa community college staff or faculty member can submit award nominations and/or retirement recognitions.
ICCSSA Awards
Members of the ICCSSA Board Awards Committee will determine the final selection of award recipients. Awards will be presented at the 2020 annual drive-in conference at DMACC Ankeny campus in early June. If nominated for an award, current ICCSSA Board members may not vote for that award category.
The criteria for the awards are:
Outstanding New Professional
Meritorious service in ICCSSA student services within the first five (5) years of service. Demonstrated competence in any area of student services. Effective, innovative response to the varied and emerging needs of students. Leadership in community and college affairs. Active participation/leadership in ICCSSA, other professional organizations, committees and/or work groups. Outstanding potential as a student affairs/student development/higher education professional.
Distinguished Service Award
Meritorious service in student affairs, student development, and/or higher education for a minimum of six (6) years. High level of experience in one or more areas of student services. High stature among and strong support of students, staff, faculty, and administrators on his/her own campus. Effective development of junior staff members and/or student workers. Significant contributions to the sub-group area which may include presentations at professional meetings. Leadership in community and college affairs. Effective, innovative response to the varied and emerging needs of students. Leadership in the Iowa Community College Student Services Association and/or in other professional organizations.
Outstanding Service Award
This award is presented to a member of the Iowa Community College Student Services Association who has demonstrated outstanding participation/leadership in furthering the goals and objectives of ICCSSA.
Retirement Recognitions
Do you have a colleague at your institution or at another Iowa community college who has retired or will be retiring this academic year (2019-2020)? Submit a retirement recognition to congratulate them on this momentous accomplishment and thank them for their service to community college student services. Retirees will be recognized at the 2020 annual drive-in.
